Concentis are hiring a
Senior Mechanical Engineer to join an established operations team for their client located in the Northern Territory. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of mechanical equipment, systems, and processes across site-based capital projects.
As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll provide leadership, technical oversight, and project support while working closely with multidisciplinary teams to drive project outcomes and uphold engineering standards.
This role is a minimum 3-month contract on a FIFO 8:6 or 2:1 roster, with high potential to extend.
Key Responsibilities - Approve equipment changes as part of the site change management process.
- Act as Principal Approver for project documentation (e.g., P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and other critical designs).
- Mentor and support the development of mechanical and structural engineers.
- Manage and coordinate service providers and vendors for mechanical and structural engineering works and activities.
- Provide governance and technical stewardship for all mechanical and structural standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Deliver expert mechanical design support for existing plant, material handling systems, infrastructure, fleet, and new projects.
- Drive progress and ensure alignment with project timelines and quality standards.
- Lead structural integrity and asset integrity programs and prioritise remediation works.
Performance Objectives - Accurate and timely sign-off of critical engineering documents, including equipment change requests, P&IDs, and GA drawings.
- Active participation in key design reviews and HAZOPs.
- Deliver engineering support that keeps projects within schedule, scope, and budget.
- Achieve alignment with consultants and vendors by setting clear expectations and ensuring accountability.
- Contribute to a positive safety culture by maintaining strong HSE standards at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements - Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in mining, minerals processing or similar heavy industry environment.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, with experience in root cause analyses for fixed plant equipment.
- Hands-on experience with Bulk Materials Handling Equipment – particularly conveyors and structural works.
- Proficient computer skills (SAP, MS Projects, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
