Senior Mechanical Engineer Our client delivers engineering, procurement, and construction services across a range of commodities including Iron Ore, Copper, Gold, Lithium, Rare Earths, Aluminium, and Coal. They operate globally with offices in Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and project hubs worldwide.
The Role They are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support their mining and metals projects. You'll be involved in designing, developing, and evaluating mechanical systems and equipment, focusing on delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions. This role is part-time telework, with around three days per week expected in the office or project site.
Key Responsibilities - Lead the design, modification, and evaluation of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Support cost estimates, field investigations, and client discussions.
- Prepare designs, drawings, reports, and proposals.
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines, clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Provide technical input during equipment procurement.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers as needed.
What We're Looking For - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- 8-10 years' experience in mining/mechanical engineering (or 12-14 years without a degree).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design, systems, and materials handling equipment.
- Experience with copper projects and slurry pumping systems (essential).
- Familiarity with CAD (2D/3D) design tools.
- Understanding of industry codes, standards, and construction practices.
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Bonus: experience in hydrogen liquefaction or ammonia production.
