Here at Concentis, we are seeking a
Process Engineer to join the team at a major mine site in Far North Queensland, working across both the processing plant and export facility. This is a
12-month FIFO contract with flexibility of roster arrangements depending on candidate preference.
This role is suited to someone who thrives on solving complex technical challenges, has strong mineral processing knowledge, and enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable improvements. As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for
optimising and supporting mineral processing operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production. Your work will directly influence
plant performance, ore recovery, and cost efficiency, while contributing to long-term operational success.
Key Responsibilities - Process Design & Optimisation
- Develop and implement efficient mineral extraction and processing systems.
- Analyse current processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and deliver solutions to increase throughput and reduce costs.
- Apply modelling, simulation, and test work to refine and validate process changes.
- Operational Support
- Monitor daily plant performance and troubleshoot processing issues.
- Collaborate with metallurgists, geologists, and mining engineers to maximise recovery.
- Conduct feasibility studies and pilot trials for new technologies and methods.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all processes meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Carry out risk assessments and implement proactive mitigation measures.
- Champion a strong safety-first culture through decision-making and process improvements.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect and interpret production and performance data to guide decisions.
- Provide regular technical reports and recommendations to management.
- Maintain thorough documentation of process trials, changes, and outcomes.
- Project Management
- Lead or support process improvement projects from design to delivery.
- Work collaboratively with cross-discipline teams to achieve milestones.
- Drive initiatives that align with both site and corporate priorities.
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Strong understanding of mineral processing and metallurgical principles.
- Proficiency in data analysis, process modelling, and simulation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on results.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental compliance in mining operations.
Qualifications & Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years’ experience in mineral processing or plant operations (preferred).
- Hands-on experience with laboratory test work, plant optimisation, and process modelling.
- Professional Engineering accreditation (advantageous but not essential).
