Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) to source a
Land and Property Officer who will provide administrative support in the day-to-day management of land and property assets, ensuring alignment with operational and strategic objectives.
Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority constituted under the Water Act 2000 whose purpose is to supply bulk water to major consumers in the Gladstone Region. GAWB manages a variety of assets ranging from major water storage through to pump stations, pipelines, storage tanks and water treatment plants. It takes measures to protect the quantity and quality of present and future water supplies and provides, operates and maintains recreational facilities and fish fingerling production facilities and stocking programs. About the Role Reporting to the Senior Land and Property Officer, the Land and Property Officer will oversee a wide range of land and property administrative functions including acquisitions, disposals, leasing, compliance, stakeholder engagement, and maintaining accurate records. You will play a vital role in supporting strategic planning, resolving land access and usage matters, and providing technical advice to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities: - Manage day-to-day administration of land and property matters, including preparation of applications, contracts, procurement documents, invoices, and reports
- Oversee the acquisition, disposal, leasing, and use of land and property assets, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal policies
- Draft, review, and finalise agreements, monitor existing contracts, and maintain accurate records, including titles, tenure documents, and spatial data
- Liaise with tenants, legal advisors, surveyors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective property management and resolve land access or usage issues
- Support strategic planning by identifying land requirements and contributing to acquisition and disposal strategies
- Provide technical advice, conduct investigations, and assist in assessing mining applications within GAWB land and catchment areas
- Contribute to the development and review of policies, management plans, procedures, and templates related to land and property management
Essential Experience / Capabilities: - Knowledge of land tenure types (reserves, freehold, leasehold, easements)
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation
- Experience in investigations, research and reviews in a statutory or regulatory environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and corporate business systems
- Working knowledge of GIS platforms (e.g. Queensland Globe)
Desirable: - Previous experience within local or state government
- Familiarity with State Land Asset Management processes
- Background in land planning, natural resource management, GIS, or surveying
- Previous experience with commercial leasing
