Easements Maintenance Officer to join their Grounds and Recreation Team.
Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority constituted under the Water Act 2000 whose purpose is to supply bulk water to major consumers in the Gladstone Region. GAWB manages a variety of assets ranging from major water storage through to pump stations, pipelines, storage tanks and water treatment plants. It takes measures to protect the quantity and quality of present and future water supplies and provides, operates and maintains recreational facilities and fish fingerling production facilities and stocking programs. About the Role We are seeking a proactive and safety conscious Easement Maintenance Officer to join GAWB’s mobile maintenance team. This role is crucial in ensuring safe and efficient access to critical water pipeline infrastructure through effective vegetation management and minor easement maintenance activities. Some of your responsibilities will to slashing, brush cutting and weed control around critical network infrastructure such as air valves, valve pits and isolation valves.
Your key accountabilities include: - Operate and maintain equipment including tractors, slashers, trucks and other yard equipment to ensure access to water pipeline easements
- Conduct pre-start checks, safety inspections and routine maintenance of machinery
- Perform maintenance tasks such as brush cutting, spraying and tree/debris removal
- Identify and report hazards or changes in asset condition during routine easement patrols
- Support operational and emergency response teams by preparing access tracks and site conditions for maintenance work
- Carry out minor infrastructure repairs including signage, fencing, and erosion control
- Maintain accurate records of completed works, including inspection data
- Implement planned and reactive maintenance programs on GAWB managed properties and easements
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders including GAWB staff, customers, landholders and contractors
- Plan and set up access and exclusion controls to carry out maintenance works, including traffic control when required.
Essential Experience / Capabilities: - White Card / Blue Card (Construction)
- Q Fever Vaccinations (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience in vegetation management
- Relevant plant operation tickets, including tractor operation competency or nationally recognised unit of competency (e.g. RIIMPO315E – Conduct civil construction tractor operations).
- Current “C Class Driver’s Licence
Desirable - Chainsaw ticket
- ACDC / ChemCert Chemical License (Commercial Operators License – weed control)
- 4x4 vehicle training or experience
- Medium Rigid Truck License (or willingness to obtain)
- Skid Steer Loader ticket
- Current Senior First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain)
- Traffic Management and/or Traffic Control Ticket
