We are seeking a Construction Lead – Self-Perform to join our site-based delivery team in regional Queensland. This role is ideal for a construction professional with strong site supervision experience who is ready to lead multi-disciplined civil earthworks teams, manage contractors and plant operators, and ensure the successful delivery of complex capital projects.
This position is offered as a 12-month on going contract on an even time FIFO roster (16 days onsite, 12 days offsite), providing a balance between professional challenge and personal time.
Key Responsibilities - Lead and direct a team of up to 50 plant operators and trades, assigning tasks and providing guidance.
- Oversee civil earthworks programs to meet schedule and quality requirements.
- Encourage teamwork, effective communication, and knowledge sharing.
- Manage equipment inventory and ensure efficient utilisation.
- Anticipate and mitigate project risks to meet required parameters.
- Provide technical support and interpret permits, plans, and technical drawings.
- Schedule materials and plant requirements.
- Monitor progress and generate timely supervisor reports.
- Liaise with line managers and engineers on technical issues.
- Deliver daily prestart meetings and lead by example in safety and culture.
- Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders and act as a secondary point of contact.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and assist in achieving project objectives.
Key Skills & Qualifications - 7–10+ years’ project construction supervision experience in civil contractor or earthworks sectors.
- Direct supervision experience with graders, scrapers, loaders, moxys, and excavators.
- Experience leading contracting partners in remote locations.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with a focus on HSE.
- Knowledge of civil infrastructure construction, including haul roads, creek crossings, and tailings dam wall raises.
- Some computer literacy (Microsoft Excel and Word).
- Willingness to work a flexible FIFO roster.
- High level of personal integrity and commitment to safety.
- Ability to manage changing workloads and priorities tasks effectively.
